KANSAS CITY, MO. -- Two years after she vanished it is
still unknown what happened to Summer Shipp. The Kansas City
woman disappeared in December 2004 while doing door-to-door
research in Independence.
On Saturday's tragic anniversary, friends and family were working
to keep others safe.
Shipp's daughter Brandy teamed up with the Achieve Foundation to
help others learn how to defend themselves.
"We don't know what happened to my mother, self defense
possibly could have saved her from what happened," Brandy
said. "We don't know the details so we don't know but it
can't hurt to know self defense."
Brandy learned self-defense moves right along with everyone else
and she said that one life saved makes this all worthwhile.
"I'm gonna continue my search and I'm still as focused and
dedicated today as I was two years ago in finding answers and
finding out what happened to my mother and finding the person
responsible and I think it's just a matter of time justice will
prevail," she said.
The free self defense workshops continue until Sunday from 8 a.m.
to 1 p.m. at the Screenland Theatre at 17th and Washington in
Kansas City, Missouri.
